How to boost reviews via reviews.io with twio impact rewards
What is twio?

Why use impact rewards over discount codes?
Many merchants suffer from discount fatigue - we often hear "how do I reward my customers without using ANOTHER discount?". The trouble with discounts is they:

- and condition your customers to wait for money off 👀

Impact rewards are a great way of adding a fresh, novel, 'feel good' experience to the reviews journey, and they're great for conversion (and the planet), too!
How to get twio rewards set up with your reviews.io integration (on Shopify)
Step 1: Make sure that you have the "Buy Button" channel enabled on Shopify. If not, you can add the official Shopify channel here.
Step 2: Create a product within Shopify called 'Impact reward' or 'Charity Donation', or whatever you would like to call it (make sure to make it relevant!) and make the value equal to the donation reward you would like to offer e.g. £3
- Make sure to untick 'This is a physical product' to prevent any shipping charges being added
- Click on More actions > Create checkout link - copy this link (you'll need it later)
Step 3: Create a discount code within Shopify that automatically applies a 100% discount on the Impact Reward gift - make sure this code can only be applied to this product and can only be used once per customer*. You can call this REV3, for example. Hit 'save'.
Step 4: Copy the checkout link you created in Step 1 and paste this into your reviews.io flow in the section where your discount code would typically go**. Append the following text to the end of the URL to automatically apply the discount coupon created in Step 3: &discount=[DISCOUNT CODE]. When your customer leaves a review, they'll receive this link as part of the normal email flow and checkout with the donation reward product added in Step 1**.
Step 5: On your Shopify store page, head to Settings > Notification > Webhooks and click 'Create Webhook'. In the event box hit 'order payment' and paste the following URL into the URL field: https://marketing.twio.io/donation - this creates a link between your Shopify store and twio.
Step 6: Head on over to the 'donation codes' section on your twio dashboard - in the donation code box, enter the name of the code you applied in Shopify and then set the donation amount you would like to trigger e.g. £3. Hit' add code'. When an order is placed, twio will check to see if this code has been used - if it has, twio will send a donation voucher to the customer for them to redeem.
Step 7: On your twio dashboard, head to the 'Account' tab and scroll down to the 'Branded Login Page' section - add your logo and cover image, and change the background colour and welcome text to match your brand. Click 'Save Changes and Finish'. When your customers go to redeem their donation, this is the landing page they will see; once they sign up or login to twio, they will be able to select their cause and see all of their donations from your store saved in one place.

That's it, you're all done - when a customer leaves a review, they'll receive a link to the free donation product on your site. Once they checkout with that product, they'll receive a donation reward via email that can be redeemed with a cause of their choice.
*Shopify doesn't allow codes to be applied to items worth £0 (for some reason!) so we have to set it up like this
**The best part about this flow is it directs your customer back to your site - who knows, maybe they'll make another purchase!
We like to keep things simple - the reviews.io integration costs £24/m + a 20% fee on all generated impact rewards (i.e. the total charge for a £3 donation reward would be £3.60). Please note that only about 10-30% of donation rewards are typically redeemed.
That's a very cheap (and impactful) review!!
